A little bit of history took place last week as I presented the 3rd Annual Pioneer Award to Neil Balter, founder of California Closets. This was one of my last official acts as ACSP President and certainly one to be remembered. Neil started California Closets in his father’s garage at age 17 and by 27 had 166 franchises. At age 30, he sold out to Williams-Sonoma. His vision of the closet industry was the fore-father of what we know today. Many have come and gone since Neil started his company but none have done it better. I was very proud to be able to honor his achievement.
